A Library for Citizens of the Future

In 2024, RADAR is more focused than ever on spreading belief and building meaning in our flagship statement: the future belongs to those who think about it. To us, it’s an encapsulation of our case for change. If there are more people engaged in the collective imagination of better futures, there will be more visionaries capable of stepping up to create better worlds.

Put simply, it’s about getting people to realize that they’re citizens of the future — not just consumers of it. Because when you think of yourself as a citizen, your attitude toward action changes.

With this mission in mind, we’re proud to be in the process of launching our next significant initiative — Radical Stacks: A Library for Citizens of the Future.

It’s a platform to activate radical imagination; a public good designed to feel like all the things we love about libraries; and at its heart, an ever-evolving collection of curated stacks aimed at inspiring hope in and accelerating the creation of better futures

Each stack will be curated by an inspired voice (either in or outside of RADAR) around a specific topic that’s answering that yearning for them, personally. Maybe it’s the Imagination Revolution, or Looking Back to Look Forward; maybe it’s Front Porch Futuring, or the Power of Asking What If?

Collective Dreaming
Afropresentism
Constructive Anxiety
Dancing in the Liminal Space

No matter the topic, each curator will share a peek into the archive that has activated their imagination, given them hope, and made them a citizen of the future. Books, poems, articles, memes — a stack can consist of anything, as long as it inspires.

Because we know what’s out there, and we know it’s only the half of it at best.

There’s so much that inspires us. It’s coming from so many different, and seemingly disparate, places and spaces — and it seems like each and every conversation unlocks something new. And yet, they all seem to come from the same craving. The same yearning to reimagine what is and play a part in building what could be.

So, we thought, what if we brought it all together? What if we built the place that people went to when they needed the inspiration, hope, resources, tools, and connections they needed to build the better future they wish to live in? What if we filled it with our favorite people and invited them to share the things that satisfied their particular version of this yearning?

Where could it go from there? It’s June 2024 and we’re building v1 of Radical Stacks. We’d love for you to be part of it.
